Assertiveness

Yuki is asserting herself these days. She knows what she needs and is not afraid to let us know. On the other hand, she is becoming very independent and she can go exploring by herself.

Blissful crawling

We're not sure what she's had to have such a content look but we wish we had some.

Yuki's First Swim at the Pool

The moment we were all waiting for! Summer is here, weather is warm, and we can go swimming outside. We were able to get away with lower quality videos but now she's moving faster and I may have to think of a better solution. Someone told me "if you have a crab(by baby), put it in water". It's true. It's a cure-all. Click here for more photos.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day, Papa! Here is my latest art-work.
Love, Yuki.

Duck Hunting

We are not sure where she learned this, but it is certainly not the kind of manners that we like to encourage! But still so cute and we are glad to have a glass table so we can see her chasing a cracker duck with her mouth :)

Odekake

Yuki and I went out shopping at the Farmer's Market this morning in her new outfit from Ba-ba. It has been raining cats and dogs in the midwest this week and we finally had a nice morning. Levies have been breaking, man-made lakes have drained into a river after the land around a dam dissolved away, and some cities are under water. We have managed without any major damage so far (knock on wood). Alas it was short-lived and we had a thunderstorm and hail in the afternoon. Click here for more photos.

Ba-ba is visiting!

Ba-ba is in town for a conference and we are so happy to see her! We had lots of good food and Yuki had fun showing off all her new tricks like clapping her hands and shrugging her shoulders, saying "mama" (which could either mean "Mama" in English, or "food" in Japanese), kicking her strong legs, splashing around in the bathtub, clicking her tongue, sticking it out, poking Baba in the eye with her index finger, giving high-fives, blowing raspberries, eating all sorts of new food, pretending to whistle, blowing on a whistle, picking up small never-before-seen objects from the floor, dancing, bouncing, and goofing around in general. Click here for more photos from the weekend, and here for Ba-ba's movies .

Cycling Yuki

Mama is so excited to go bicycling with Yuki. Of course, safety first, and she has to have a helmet.
